Softball Recap: ALA - Gilbert North Takes a Loss

ALA - Gilbert North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-2 to the ALA - Queen Creek Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-6 on March 3rd.

Makenzi Ravelo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emery Smith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

ALA - Gilbert North's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for ALA - Queen Creek, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. ALA - Gilbert North will square off against Prescott at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Prescott has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.6 runs per game on average), something ALA - Gilbert North will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they will face off against Higley at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. ALA - Queen Creek's pitchers better be ready for this one: Higley has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
