Basketball Game Preview: Lima Christian Saints vs. Young Women's College Prep Griffins

The Lima Christian Saints will venture away from home to square off against the Young Women's College Prep Griffins at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Lima Christian is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Honeoye on Monday. Lima Christian walked away with a 58-50 win over Honeoye.

Lima Christian found their leader in sophomore Alyssa Marsh, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 18 steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Marsh has scored at least a third of Lima Christian's points. Sophy Britton was another key player, putting up 18 points and three steals.

Lima Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Young Women's College Prep had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They took down the Red Jackets 62-45. Given the Griffins' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Red Jackets are ranked 416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Young Women's College Prep's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Lima Christian, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4.

Lima Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Young Women's College Prep in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 66-61 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lima Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
