Volleyball Recap: Salpointe Catholic Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

Salpointe Catholic waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Rincon/University Rangers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lancers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Salpointe Catholic was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (103-100), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 16-25, 25-19, 19-25, 15-13.

Salpointe Catholic was led to victory by Reyes Gardner-Figueroa and Tyler Nitka. Gardner-Figueroa had 14 digs and three aces, while Nitka had ten kills and ten digs. That's the most digs Nitka has posted since back in April of 2024. Shane Palmer also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Rincon/University lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nic Sanchez, who had 20 digs and two assists.

Salpointe Catholic's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-7. As for Rincon/University, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-5 record.

Salpointe Catholic has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Ironwood Ridge on the 3rd. As for Rincon/University, they will take on Sahuaro at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
