Softball Recap: Bonita Vista Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Bonita Vista and Mater Dei Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Bonita Vista had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 6-1 loss on Saturday.

Kianna Balajadia-Brooks was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Danica Aboytes, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Bonita Vista and nudges their season record down to 25-8. As for Mater Dei Catholic, they pushed their record up to 26-7 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home.

Bonita Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mater Dei Catholic, they will venture away from home to challenge El Modena at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crusaders 2.6, the Vanguards 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
