Softball Recap: Ballard Memorial Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ballard Memorial ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lyon County Lyons, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bombers have posted since May 20, 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Ballard Memorial and bumps their season record up to 5-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Lyon County, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Ballard Memorial will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Anna-Jonesboro at 11:00 a.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bombers 4, the Wildcats 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Lyon County, they will host Crittenden County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
