Soccer Recap: Freeburg Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Freeburg was not quite Columbia's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. Freeburg haven't had much luck with Columbia recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Freeburg's goal came courtesy of Nor Aine Somosa, who's now up to eight this season.

Freeburg's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-8-1. As for Columbia, they now have a winning record of 9-8-1.

Freeburg and Columbia should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Midgets will face off against Pinckneyville at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th with a big rank advantage (153 vs. 335). Meanwhile, Columbia (ranked 75th) will meet Salem (ranked 272nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
