Baseball Recap: Desert Vista Comes Up Short

After flying high against Casteel last Friday, Desert Vista came back down to earth. The Thunder fell just short of the Brophy College Prep Broncos by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. The Thunder have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Cole Gomez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Noah Gutierrez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Jayden Garrison was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Desert Vista's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Brophy College Prep, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-8.

While Desert Vista had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
