Basketball Recap: Tri-Valley Takes a Loss

If Tri-Valley was riding high fresh off their 36-9 takedown of Weatherly last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tri-Valley Bulldogs were beaten by the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears 71-33 on Friday. The Bulldogs lost against the Golden Bears in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 38-37 score last time.

Tri-Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Avery Miller, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Miller is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Faith Artz was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Tri-Valley's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Mahanoy Area, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Halifax at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tri-Valley is facing Halifax at the right time seeing as Halifax is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Mahanoy Area, they will venture away from home to challenge Nativity BVM at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
