Basketball Recap: Blackford Bruins vs. Eastern Comets
The Blackford Bruins had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Eastern with a sharp 59-39 win on Friday. Blackford has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.
Sydnee Morris continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bralee Vanskyock, who scored 12 points along with six assists and three steals.
Several Comets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jenna Odle, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Appleton, who scored six points.
Blackford is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Eastern, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.
Blackford won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Eastbrook is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season. Eastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
