Football Recap: Lowellville Takes a Loss

Lowellville extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They took a blow against the Mineral Ridge Rams, falling 48-16. Rockets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Rams since Friday.

Ricky Willrich threw for 116 yards on ten of 21 attempts. Aj Boehlke was his top target, picking up 81 receiving yards. On the ground, Anthony Kacir rushed for 35 yards and one TD.

As for Mineral Ridge, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.8 points over those games.

Preston Holbrook had a dynamite game, rushing for 132 yards and one score on only 14 carries.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lowellville will face off against rival McDonald at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mineral Ridge is set to take on their familiar foe Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
