Basketball Game Preview: Pacific Grove Breakers vs. Carmel Padres

Pacific Grove is 2-8 against Carmel since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pacific Grove Breakers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Carmel Padres at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Pacific Grove's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.

Last Wednesday, Pacific Grove earned a 60-48 victory over Alisal.

Pacific Grove found their leader in sophomore Andrew Nimri, who went 9 of 16 en route to 27 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nimri has scored at least a third of Pacific Grove's points. Gabriel Valencia was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Carmel came tearing into Wednesday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 74-62 win over the Chieftains.

Carmel is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Pacific Grove, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Pacific Grove ended up a good deal behind Carmel when the teams last played on January 11th, losing 51-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Carmel's Simeon Brown, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points and six steals.
