Preview: Boylan Catholic Titans vs. Freeport Pretzels
Boylan Catholic is 7-1 against Freeport since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Boylan Catholic Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Freeport Pretzels at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Boylan Catholic is not getting complacent, as they comes into the match much higher ranked than Freeport in Illinois (Boylan Catholic is ranked 97th, while Freeport is ranked 377th).
Last Friday, Boylan Catholic got themselves on the board against Guilford, but Guilford never followed suit. They breezed by the Vikings on the road to the tune of 43-0. The result was nothing new for Boylan Catholic, who have now won six matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Freeport came up short against Rockford East on Friday and fell 30-20.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Payton Woker, who threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns.
Boylan Catholic's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points per game. Freeport has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Boylan Catholic took their victory against Freeport when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 42-20. Does Boylan Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Freeport turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
