Baseball Recap: Hoover Comes Up Short

Hoover has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.79 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Green Bulldogs. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Ryan Wilkinson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Lukens, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Hoover's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Green, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Hoover and Green should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Vikings will face off against Wadsworth at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (19 vs. 251). Meanwhile, Green (ranked 91st) will meet Austintown-Fitch (ranked 256th) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
