Basketball Recap: Payton Watson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Iowa Colony over Friendswood

Iowa Colony was the 52-43 winner over Friendswood when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Iowa Colony Pioneers fell to the Friendswood Mustangs 32-28. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Iowa Colony's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Watson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. What's more, Watson also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Kenadie Francis, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Iowa Colony's defeat dropped their record down to 20-13. As for Friendswood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-11 record this season.

Iowa Colony does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Friendswood, they will face off against West Brook at 6:03 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
