Softball Game Preview: San Luis Sidewinders vs. Gila Ridge Hawks

San Luis is 1-9 against Gila Ridge since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Sidewinders will head out to square off against the Hawks at 3:45 p.m. San Luis has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for San Luis' offense. They came up short against Kofa last Thursday, falling 13-0. The Sidewinders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Gila Ridge waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Criminals 11-1. Considering the Hawks have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gila Ridge pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for San Luis, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

San Luis might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Gila Ridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Sidewinders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
