Soccer Game Preview: Santa Teresa vs. Evergreen Valley

After a short break, it's finally time for some more action. The Santa Teresa Saints are taking a road trip to square off against the Evergreen Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Santa Teresa managed to keep up with Del Mar until halftime two weeks ago, but things quickly went downhill from there. Santa Teresa might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Del Mar an easy 5-0 victory. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 784th, while the Dons are ranked 127th).

Meanwhile, Evergreen Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Silver Creek two weeks ago and fell 2-1. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Their goal came courtesy of Ryan Nguyen, which was the first he's scored this season.

Evergreen Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-3-1. As for Santa Teresa, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Santa Teresa beat Evergreen Valley 2-0 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Santa Teresa repeat their success, or does Evergreen Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
