The first recipient of the MaxPreps Polynesian Bowl All-Star Player of the Week goes to Grant Gunnell of St. Pius X (Houston).

The 2019 Arizona commit completed 26-of-40 passes for 436 yards and six touchdowns. The 4-star quarterback also rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' 46-34 win over Manor (Texas). The future Pac-12 gunslinger has led his team to a 4-0 start in 2018 and has thrown for 1,682 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Gunnell is now 1,371 yards away from breaking Hunter Lile's Texas all-time career passing record (14,408) and needs 24 passing touchdowns to break Travis Quintanilla's career mark (184).

Only players selected for the 2019 and 2020 Polynesian Bowl are eligible to win the award and we will select a Player of the Year at the end of the season too.

Gunnell wasn't the only dude who went off this past weekend.
