Preview: Olathe North Eagles vs. Lawrence Lions
The Olathe North Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Lawrence Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Olathe North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Olathe North's strategy against Shawnee Mission North on Friday. Olathe North put the hurt on Shawnee Mission North with a sharp 49-26 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Olathe North had established a 22 point advantage.
Olathe North's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Allie Workman, who scored nine points along with four steals, and Asia Lee, who scored 19 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lee has scored at least a third of Olathe North's points. Lailah Simmons was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Lawrence was handed a 41-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Olathe Northwest on Friday. Lawrence came out on top in a nail-biter against Olathe Northwest and snuck past 41-38. The victory was just what Lawrence needed coming off of a 69-28 defeat in their prior matchup.
The victory made it two in a row for Olathe North and bumps their season record up to 7-9. Lawrence's record now sits at 9-7.
Olathe North and Lawrence were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but Olathe North came up empty-handed after a 32-31 defeat. Can Olathe North avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
