Baseball Recap: Western Reserve Takes a Loss

Western Reserve had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-10 to make it four. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plymouth Big Red. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Big Red this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 on Monday.

As for Plymouth, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8. Six seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Plymouth's part, Lincoln Distl made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. Distl has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keegan Beverly, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Plymouth: the team is 7-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jarrett Burrer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Reserve will host Mansfield Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plymouth, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Mt. Gilead at 5:15 p.m.
