Softball Recap: Bishop Snyder Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Bishop Snyder had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Episcopal School of Jacksonville Eagles by a score of 7-5. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 12-1 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Caitlyn Boshell put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Boshell was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, Gabriella Rogers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Mady Grumbly, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Coming up, Bishop Snyder will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Orange Park at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Episcopal School of Jacksonville, they will head out on the road to face off against Providence School at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Episcopal School of Jacksonville has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
