Volleyball Recap: Freedom Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Falcons on Thursday. Freedom lost 3-0 to College Park. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Freedom of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-20, 25-20.

Antonio Martinez paced Freedom's offense, picking up five kills. Martinez got some help from Devin Sandoval and his nine assists. Martinez was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

College Park found their leader in freshman Jax Koepp, who had six digs and three aces. Koepp has been hot, having also posted 12 or more assists the last eight times he's played. Diego Marquez was another key player, getting seven digs and four assists.

Freedom's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-11. As for College Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Freedom didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Deer Valley on the 8th. As for College Park, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Las Lomas at 6:30 p.m. on the 15th.
