Softball Recap: Indian Springs Comes Up Short

Indian Springs and Tonopah squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Indian Springs had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Muckers by a score of 12-11. The Thunderbirds were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Muckers earlier this season, when they won 24-17.

Acelynn Flanigan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peighton Nield, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Indian Springs and nudges their season record down to 12-12. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 17-1 Round Mountain (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.1% over those games). As for Tonopah, with the win, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-14.

Indian Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tonopah, they have already played their next contest, a 21-11 defeat against Round Mountain on the 9th.
