Volleyball Recap: Westside Takes a Loss

If Westside was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Ribault on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolverines lost 3-0 to the First Coast Buccaneers on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Wolverines in their meetings with the Buccaneers: they've now lost six in a row.

The final score came out to 25-10, 25-10, 25-8.

It was another big night for MARKAYLA SMILEY, who had 12 kills, eight digs, six aces, and five blocks for First Coast. Those 12 kills gave SMILEY a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of BROOKE EDMONDS, who had 12 digs.

Westside's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for First Coast, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside will welcome Sandalwood at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for First Coast, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on the 25th.
