Basketball Recap: Jace Humphrey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South over Kapaun Mt. Carmel

South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 66-43 to the Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 75-61 to the Crusaders when the teams met back in March of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.

South's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Humphrey, who posted 14 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Those seven assists gave Humphrey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Myers, who earned nine points.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rocco Keller, who shot 78% from the field on his way to 14 points along with six boards and three steals. Keller is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played. Corbin Johnson was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds.

South's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Kapaun Mt. Carmel, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kapaun Mt. Carmel, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-42 win against Maize South on the 8th.
