Baseball Preview: Windermere Wolverines vs. The First Academy Royals

The Windermere Wolverines are taking a road trip to challenge The First Academy Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Windermere came out on top against Mount Dora Christian Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Wolverines' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Wolverines have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The First Academy not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2025 (when they won 10-0). Everything went their way against Timber Creek as they made off with a 7-1 win. Winning may never get old, but the Royals sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Matthew Rondon tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, The First Academy let Isaiah Comas and Aiden Williams run wild. Comas went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Williams went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most RBI Comas has posted since back in February. Cannon Koronka was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Windermere's record now sits at 14-6. As for The First Academy, their record is now 13-8.

Windermere couldn't quite get it done against The First Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 8-5. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
