Football Recap: Bellefonte Comes Up Short

Bellefonte fought the good fight in their overtime game against Clearfield on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bison by a score of 21-18. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Bison: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the loss, Bellefonte still got an impressive performance from Kaven Smith-kirk, who rushed for 209 yards while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Caleb Bartley was in the mix too, providing the Raiders with one score.

Clearfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper Broad out in front who picked up 80 receiving yards and one TD. Those 80 receiving yards gave Broad a new career-high. Colton Ryan was another key player, rushing for 68 yards and one touchdown.

Bellefonte's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Clearfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Bellefonte is taking a road trip to square off against Penns Valley Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Clearfield, they will host Huntingdon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
