Hubbard added to the longest winning streak in 1A-2 Region III District 9 this week by beating Kerens, 50-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Jaguars.
Meridian scaled the state rankings by moving to 1,104 from 1,135 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Yellowjackets were able to move up by defeating Valley Mills 19-6.
Hubbard's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Braydyn Gillham threw for 122 and 3 touchdowns and D Warren Simmons had 65 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon Simpson chipped in 115 yards. Nick Johnson helped Hubbard's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 57 yards.
He went 7-8 with 0 interceptions.
Simmons was the best wideout in the league this week as Craig Horn's team beat the Bobcats. Simmons tallied 5 receptions for 65 yards. Johnson helped Hubbard's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 57 yards.
Hubbard's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Jaguars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Casen Martin has thrown for 387 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Simmons has 14 catches for 399 yards.
A big matchup in 1A-2 Region III District 9 this week will be when Frost takes on the Jaguars. As it stands, the Bears are in third, while Hubbard is in first.
Meridian made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,340 from 13,937. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 19-6 victory over the Eagles last week.
