Preview: Madison Academy Mustangs vs. Mars Hill Bible Panthers
The Madison Academy Mustangs will face off against the Mars Hill Bible Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison Academy will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
With a playoff game on the line, Madison Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 57-20 victory over Hokes Bluff at home. Madison Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten matches by 29 points or more this season.
Madison Academy can attribute much of their success to Kenyon Cherry, who rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and Joshua Williams, who rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Williams was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Madison Academy also got help from Jackson Reece who showed off his sure hands for 101 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Mars Hill Bible stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Oakman 63-7 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mars Hill Bible.
Madison Academy's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Asbury and 2-8 Madison County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.2% over those games). As for Mars Hill Bible, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
