Recap: United Longhorns vs. East Central Hornets

The United Longhorns pushed their score all the way to 75 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 76-75 to East Central. While losing is never fun, United can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 550th, while East Central is ranked 81st).

Jacob Stewart continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Central, scoring 32 points along with five steals. Those 32 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Zahir Williams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

United's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-11. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for East Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

United won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 4:30 p.m. on December 20th. East Central and Andress will round out the year against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Andress has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
