Volleyball Recap: Thunderbird Takes a Loss

Thunderbird was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cactus Shadows Falcons. The Titans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Thunderbird was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Cactus Shadows work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 19-25, 25-16, 25-23.

Despite the loss, Thunderbird still got an impressive performance from Ema-Lee Burke, who had 26 digs and four assists. Burke is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

Among those leading the charge was Gabby Procopio, who had 16 digs and two assists.

Thunderbird's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cactus Shadows, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Coincidentally, Thunderbird and Cactus Shadows will both be playing Basha the next time they take the court. The Titans will head out to face the Bears at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Falcons will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
