Volleyball Recap: San Mateo Takes a Loss

After flying high against Jefferson last Monday, San Mateo came back down to earth. San Mateo took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Menlo-Atherton Bears on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Bearcats in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost six in a row.

San Mateo started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-16.

San Mateo now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Menlo-Atherton, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

San Mateo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against International on the 20th. As for Menlo-Atherton, they will head out on the road to take on Hillsdale at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
