Basketball Recap: Benet Academy Beats Downers Grove North for Their Seventh Straight Victory

With a playoff win on the line, Benet Academy rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Downers Grove North Trojans by a score of 42-32. Given the Redwings' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked first in Illinois, while the Trojans are ranked 48th in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, Downers Grove North saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Campbell Thulin went 8-for-15 on her way to 21 points and three steals. That was a full 65.6% of Downers Grove North's points, marking the fourth time in a row Thulin has posted more than a third of the team's points.

The win was the seventh in a row for Benet Academy, bringing their record for this year to 29-2. As for Downers Grove North, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-10.
