Football Recap: St. Bede Takes a Loss

St. Bede extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-6. They had to suffer through a 47-13 loss at the hands of the Peoria Notre Dame Irish. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Irish are ranked 155th).

Gino Ferrari threw for 102 yards on eight of 23 attempts. Drew Carboni was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards. On the ground, Carson Riva rushed for 27 yards and one score.

As for Peoria Notre Dame, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Considering they have won five games by more than 31 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Dallas Harder continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 179 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Those 179 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Blake Maxwell was another key player, rushing for 84 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. St. Bede will venture away from home to face off against St. Teresa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they will head out to challenge Danville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
