Softball Game Preview: Northampton County Jaguars vs. Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars

We've got a battle between Jaguars coming up. Northampton County will be strutting in after a victory while Rocky Mount Prep will be coming in after a loss.

Northampton County was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Southeast Halifax on Friday. The Jaguars blew past the Trojans 52-27. The Jaguars have beaten the Trojans the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Trojans has come to flipping the script.

Northampton County got a massive performance out of Toccara Joyner, who went a perfect 7-for-7 with two doubles. Those seven hits gave Joyner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brianna Calix, who scored two runs while going 5-for-6.

Rocky Mount Prep played against North East Carolina Prep on Wednesday and lost via forfeit.

Northampton County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Rocky Mount Prep, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Everything went Northampton County's way against Rocky Mount Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Northampton County made off with a 22-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northampton County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
