Basketball Recap: Isaac Martinez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sam Rayburn over Pasadena Memorial

Sam Rayburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 68-50 to the Pasadena Memorial Mavericks. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1007th, while the Mavericks are ranked 286th).

Sam Rayburn lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Isaac Martinez, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jarius Mcelroy, who put up six points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Sam Rayburn was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their 17th loss (out of 21 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Sam Rayburn's loss dropped their record down to 6-27. As for Pasadena Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 18-14.

Sam Rayburn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 91-43 defeat against Shadow Creek on the 12th. As for Pasadena Memorial, they have also already played their next contest, a 53-46 win against Alvin on the 12th.
