Basketball Recap: Branford Comes Up Short

Branford blew Union County out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Union County got their revenge. The Branford Buccaneers fell just short of the Union County Fightin' Tigers by a score of 47-45. The Buccaneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fightin' Tigers earlier this season, when they won 51-15.

When it comes to explaining why Branford lost, don't look at Myranda Watson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Watson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

It was another big night for Heaven Scott, who went 8 of 10 on her way to 19 points and six steals for Union County. That's the most steals Scott has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Moore, who posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Branford moved to 8-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Union County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.

Branford will venture away from home to take on Countryside Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Union County, they will take on Keystone Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
