Basketball Game Preview: Argonaut Mustangs vs. Rosemont Wolverines

Argonaut has gone 7-1 against Rosemont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Argonaut Mustangs will face off against the Rosemont Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. Argonaut will be strutting in after a victory while Rosemont will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, Argonaut took their game with ease, bagging a 59-22 win over Galt. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Argonaut got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brynn Begovich out in front who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The dominant performance gave Begovich a new career-high in points. Alayna Critchfield was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Argonaut smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Rosemont came up short against Liberty Ranch on Friday and fell 52-45. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 821st, while the Hawks are ranked 142nd).

Argonaut's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Rosemont, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Argonaut against Rosemont in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, as the team secured a 71-25 victory. In that match, Argonaut amassed a halftime lead of 35-15, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
