Baseball Recap: Fairview Comes Up Short

If Fairview was riding high fresh off their 16-4 takedown of Skyline on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights fell just short of the Mead Mavericks by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Jackson Wier was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Wier was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Wier wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leo Muth, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. Another was Tanner Craytor, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Fairview's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9. As for Mead, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Coming up, Fairview will be playing at home against Horizon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mead, they will venture away from home to face off against Timnath at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cubs have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
