Recap: Garner Trojans vs. Clayton Comets
The Garner Trojans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Clayton on the road to the tune of 63-27. The win was a breath of fresh air for Garner as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Garner was led to victory by Olivia Jacobs and Sumayah Jones. Jacobs almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists, while Jones dropped a double-double on 21 points and 21 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Kaitlyn Dean was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Garner's win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-13. As for Clayton, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Southeast Raleigh the next time they take the court. Garner will host Southeast Raleigh at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Clayton will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
