Baseball Game Preview: Worthington Trojans vs. New Ulm Eagles

Worthington is 0-10 against New Ulm since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Worthington's offense. They came up short against Marshall on Monday, falling 8-0.

Meanwhile, New Ulm entered their tilt with Belle Plaine on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Tigers.

Briggs Candon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dirk Haynes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Hunter Larson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Worthington's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for New Ulm, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
