Basketball Recap: Clay City Takes a Loss

If Clay City was feeling good fresh off their 73-20 takedown of South Vermillion last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eels were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 49-48 to the White River Valley Wolverines. The Eels haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, Clay City still got an impressive performance from Taylor Rhienhart, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 21 points and five boards. With that strong performance, Rhienhart is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Olivia Shidler, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Clay City's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for White River Valley, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Clay City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 37-15 win against Riverton Parke on the 4th. As for White River Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Springs Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
