Football Recap: North Hall Starts Season with Victory Against Wesleyan

North Hall gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They claimed a resounding 41-7 win over the Wesleyan Wolves. The Trojans pushed the score to 34-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolves had little chance of recovering from.

Wyatt Tumlin had a dynamite game, rushing for 221 yards and one score on only ten carries. Those 221 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Ty Kemp did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards.

North Hall's run defense was locked in: Wesleyan could only muster 1.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Buddy Clark for the heroic effort on defense: he. North Hall didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.4.

North Hall's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Michael Donatelli refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself. North Hall got some further help from Clark: he forced one fumble and made 11 total tackles (0.5 for loss).

Carter Hayes and Walker Kirkland certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hayes picked up 131 receiving yards and one touchdown, while Kirkland threw for 233 yards and one TD. Hayes' receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 102 receiving yards dating back to last season.

Wesleyan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Hall will welcome Cherokee Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wesleyan, they will host Elbert County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
