Cardinal came out on top against Grand Valley on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Huskies walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Mustangs. This was payback for the Huskies, who suffered a 9-8 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kacie Carman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Carman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Emily Pleva was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Cardinal's record is now 3-5. As for Grand Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Cardinal wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 24-14 win against Harding on the 20th. As for Grand Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-0 defeat against Edgewood on the 21st.
