Basketball Recap: Milford Christian's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Milford Christian can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past the Granite Baptist Academy Guardians with a 46-40 win. Given the Conquerors' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 62nd in Delaware, while the Guardians are ranked 237th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Milford Christian to victory were Esdras Mateo and Keegan Fitzwater. Mateo posted two points along with eight boards and six steals, while Fitzwater put up 14 points and three steals. Mateo has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played.

Milford Christian's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Granite Baptist Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Milford Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-57 win against Odenton Christian on the 28th. As for Granite Baptist Academy, they will square off against Independent Baptist Academy at 4:00 p.m. on March 7th.
