Recap: Leto Falcons vs. Hillsborough Terriers

The Leto Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by Hillsborough on the road and fell 74-31. While losing is never fun, Leto can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while Hillsborough is ranked 172nd).

Despite the loss, Leto still got an impressive performance from Lizbeth Rivera, who scored 22 points along with three steals. That was a full 71% of Leto's points, marking the 16th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Deana Epps continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hillsborough, scoring 24 points along with seven steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'mya Roberson, who scored 18 points along with five assists and three steals.

Leto's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.7 points per game. As for Hillsborough, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leto will take on Brandon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Brandon will be up against Leto's rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.94 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing. As for Hillsborough, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Robinson at 6:30 p.m. Robinson is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
