National scoring leader hits his season average as he sparks team to first state tourney berth.

National scoring leader Anders Broman matched his season average with 45 points on Friday to lead the Lakeview Christian Academy (Duluth, Minn.) boys basketball team to an 80-68 victory over North Woods (Cook, Minn.) during the Class 7A section championship game. He doubled his pleasure by celebrating his 17th birthday.

The 6-foot-1 junior guard, who already is second in state scoring history, told MaxPreps, "More importantly, we are going to the state. That's all that matters. Everyone is excited now."

The Lions' first-ever state tourney appearance also was aided by his 5-11 freshman brother, Bjorn Broman, who netted 15 points from his point guard position.
