Basketball Preview: Alice Coyotes vs. Robstown Cottonpickers
The Alice Coyotes will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Robstown Cottonpickers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Alice has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a rough 97-54 loss at the hands of Bishop. Alice has not had much luck with the Badgers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Alice might have lost, but man, Calvin Villanueva was a machine: he scored 16 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ryan Ynfante, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Robstown's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight defeat. They took a 64-45 bruising from Harmony School of Excellence.
Alice's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-11. As for Robstown, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-20.
Everything came up roses for Alice against the Cottonpickers in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 70-34 win. With Alice ahead 31-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
