Baseball Game Preview: Mathews Blue Devils vs. Northampton Yellowjackets

Mathews is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Northampton a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Mathews Blue Devils will welcome the Northampton Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. Mathews has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mathews is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Middlesex on Tuesday, falling 13-4.

Meanwhile, Northampton came up short against Arcadia on Thursday and fell 7-2.

Trent Ferebee was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Ferebee was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Ferebee wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Corbin Etheridge, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Northampton's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Mathews, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Mathews got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Northampton by a conclusive 13-1 score. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
