Fort Morgan has gone a perfect 9-0 against Weld Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. Fort Morgan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Fort Morgan had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Platte Valley on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Broncos a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Cooper Chisum was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.
Chisum wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jadin Carrera, who went 1-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, Weld Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against Resurrection Christian, falling 9-1. The contest marked the Rebels' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Fort Morgan's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Weld Central, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fort Morgan has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Weld Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Fort Morgan's way against Weld Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Fort Morgan made off with a 15-4 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
