New Town has gone 8-2 against Woodlawn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. New Town will square off against Woodlawn at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
On Monday, New Town got the win against Patapsco by a conclusive 9-2. New Town might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Woodlawn never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Owings Mills on Friday. They blew past the Golden Eagles 13-2. The Warriors not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024 (when they won 15-0).
Jacob Howard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Woodlawn: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 1-5 otherwise. Howard was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Woodlawn let Jayden Johnson and Norris Roy run wild. Johnson got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Roy went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Woodlawn is 2-1 when Johnson posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Clarence Teah, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Woodlawn has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for New Town, their record is now 9-3.
New Town took their win against Woodlawn when the teams last played on April 3rd by a conclusive 24-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Town since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
